Mr. Chaminda Prabhath | Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Prabhath is a financier by profession and an internationally certified Micro Finance expert from the Frankfurt School in Germany. He has over 25 years of experience in the private sector. He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (Sp. in Finance) from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia. He is a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (FCMA, UK & CGMA), a Fellow member of the Sri Lanka Institute of Credit Management FICM(SL), and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (MCIM). He is also a Certified Management Accountant of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Australia (CMA, AUS). He has a Postgraduate Diploma in Business and Financial Administration from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka. He is the winner of the prestigious award “Game Changer of the year 2014” from World Consulting Research Corporation (WCRC), India, awarded in recognition of his contribution to the Micro Finance Industry in Sri Lanka.

Mr. Heenkenda is adept with proven expertise in the banking and finance industry for over 20 years. He is a member of both Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) and Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing and holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Wales Institute of Cardiff, UK. Mr. Heenkenda is also an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments having completed a Chartered Certificate in Risk in Financial Services. He has further completed an Executive Development Program from Harvard Business School, Boston, USA.Mr. Heenkenda is a Professional marketer who holds a Chartered Professional Postgraduate Diploma from Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) and Practicing Marketer of Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing. He is also recognised as a Certified Professional Marketer of Asia. Mr. Heenkenda is a passionate leader with over twenty years of experience in the fields of Credit Management, Marketing, Corporate Planning, Branding, Digital and Sales Strategy. Receiving the prestigious National Sales Congress (NASCO) award in 2010 as ‘the most outstanding Manager of the year’ among 12 industries by the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing has added another career milestone and an achievement to his professional journey.

Mr. Heenkenda was the CEO of Prime Finance PLC, prior to the amalgamation with HNB Finance. Prior to joining Prime Finance PLC, in his 20 years of career at Citizens Development Business Finance PLC, he has held several Senior Management positions including General Manager, Deputy General Manager and Assistant General Manager overlooking Asset Portfolio, Credit Strategy, New Business and Channel Strategy of the Company.

Mr. Ruwan Fernando | Deputy General Manager – Human Resources and Administration/Chief Human Resource Officer

Ruwan brings to the organization over 22 years of industry experience. Commencing his carrier in microfinance at HNB FINANCE, Ruwan has proven to be an asset to the organization through his commitment and skill in HRM. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. In his present capacity at HNB FINANCE, his experience and exposure in the industry, as well as his academic influence, contributes immensely.

Mr. Bimal Seneviratne | Deputy General Manager – Facilities Management

Bimal has over 16 years of experience in the microfinance industry. Having gained most of his experience HNB FINANCE, Bimal has gained vital experience in marketing financial products and thus a proven asset to the organization in his present capacity.

Mr. Palitha Abeysekara | Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Abeysekara is an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy and Financial Management from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

Mr. Abeysekara was the Deputy Chief Executive Officer/ Chief Financial Officer of Prime Finance PLC, prior to the amalgamation with HNB Finance.

He counts over 20 years of experience in the finance and leasing industry, including both managerial and senior managerial positions in Peoples’ Leasing, LOLC Group, Central Finance and LB Finance PLC.

Mr. Mahadevan Suthakar | Deputy General Manager/Chief Risk Officer

Mr. Suthakar is a dedicated professional with a solid background in Banking and Finance, Quantitative Finance, Risk Management and Compliance with over 16 years of experience. Suthakar last held the position of Deputy General Manager – Risk and Strategy / Chief Risk Officer of Prime Finance PLC up to 11th May 2022 and joined HNB Finance PLC with the amalgamation of Prime Finance PLC and HNB Finance PLC with HNB Finance PLC being the surviving entity.

Mr. Suthakar is an Associate Member of the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka (AIB – Sri Lanka) and the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments (ACSI – UK). He holds Master of Business Administration with specialization in Finance from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Master of Science in Financial Mathematics from University of Colombo and Bachelor of Business Administration specialized in Finance from the University of Jaffna.

Mr. Kamal Roshan | Deputy General Manager/Head of Internal Audit

Mr. Kamal Roshan has wealth of experience spanning over 2 decades in Banks, Finance Companies, and leasing Companies, in various positions, as the Chief Internal Auditor, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Compliance Officer, Chief Risk Officer. He has also obtained foreign training by taking part in the world conference organized by International Accounting Standards Board in 2004 in UK and in the “The World Fraud Conference” held in USA organized by Association of Certified Fraud Examiners USA in 2006.

Mr. Roshan is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and has a degree in Commerce from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He obtained his initial article training from Ernst & Young, Chartered Accountants.

Mr. Indunil Jayawardena | Deputy General Manager – Head of Credit

Mr Indunil Jayawardena is a well experienced professional with over 22 years’ experience in Commercial Banking & Development Banking in Branch Operations, Retail & SME Credit, Retail Banking,  Audit & Finance.  

He started his career at Seylan Bank Plc and subsequently gathered valuable experience at Pramuka Savings & Development Bank Ltd and Nations Trust Bank Plc. At Nations Trust Bank Plc, he held the position of Zonal Credit Manager Retail & SME Credit.

His Leasing career counts over 8 years that began at Mercantile Leasing Ltd, followed with Nations Leasing  and Mercantile Investments & Finance Plc.

Prior to join with HNBF, Indunil held the position of AGM / Head Of Credit Risk at Mercantile Investment & Finance Plc.   

 His immense experience in the areas of Credit & Credit Risk Management especially in micro & SME segments is noteworthy.

Indunil has an MBA specialized in Finance obtained from Sikkim Manipal University India.

Mr. Shehan Cooray | Deputy General Manager – Chief Recovery Officer

Mr. Shehan Cooray is a seasoned professional with over 25 years of experience in leasing & finance recoveries and 2 years in inbound sector tourism. He holds an MBA with Merit from the University of Suffolk, UK, completed in February 2022, which has greatly enhanced his strategic and operational decision-making skills.

Shehan currently serves as the Chief Recoveries Officer at HNB Finance, overseeing a team of recoveries supervisors and managing the implementation of strategies to minimize portfolio loss. He is responsible for various clusters, including asset disposal and valuation, strategic team, and SRF. Prior to this, he held the position of General Manager at Mercantile Investments and Finance PLC, specializing in recoveries and leading a team of 180 staff members.

Shehan has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership and customer-centric approach, contributing to significant innovations such as the establishment of an in-house garage for vehicle repair and resale. His efforts in implementing Lean management have resulted in reduced re-debt percentages and minimal OD interest. Under his leadership, Mercantile Investments achieved over 1 billion in profit for the fiscal year 2021/22.

Shehan’s educational background includes a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Suffolk, UK, which has equipped him with advanced knowledge in strategic and operational decision-making processes. This education, combined with his extensive professional experience, positions him as a highly capable leader in the financial sector.

As the Chief Recoveries Officer, Shehan aims to implement advanced recoveries strategies, maintain high-quality service, and drive innovation and productivity. He is committed to leading HNB Finance to achieve its financial objectives and differentiate it from competitors through excellence in recoveries operations.

Mr. Kanchana Jayasekara | Deputy General Manager – Technology/Chief Information Technology Officer

Mr. Kanchana Jayasekara is an innovative and accomplished executive with over 23 years of industry experience and extensive knowledge of strategic Digital transformations, process re-engineering, and technology adoption across multiple industries. He is a passionate team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships and effectively lead teams in achieving higher standards.

His wealth of experience spans across industries such as Banking and Finance, Shipping and Marine, 3PL, Logistics, Retail and Distribution, Travel and leisure, Manufacturing, IT Training and Education

Mr. Jayasekara successfully completed his MBA (UK), BCS and IADCS-NCC UK. He is also a Certified Trainer and Assessor in TAFE (Western Australia)

Mr. Prabath Kathriarachchi | Assistant General Manager – Head of Branch Operations

Mr. Prabath joined HNB FINANCE in 2002 and during his tenure with the organization he gained a wealth of experience in the core areas of operations. He has continued to drive the business with his strong business acumen and passion for over 17 years. He holds a Diploma in Microfinance [DMF (IBSL/FS)], Diploma in Credit Management and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management Studies.

Mr. M. Pathum Sampath Cooray | Assistant General Manager – Head of Channel Management

With over 17 years of experience in the microfinance industry Pathum has gained expertise in the various aspects of the industry as well as the business. His tenure with HNB FINANCE started as a Field Executive in 2001 and with his proven capabilities rose the ranks to what he is today. He holds a diploma in microfinance[DMF (IBSL/FS)] & higher Diploma in Credit Management.

Mrs. Radeeka Tissera | AGM/HOD – Legal

Radeeka Tissera is an Attorney-at-Law/Notary Public/Commissioner for oaths/Company Secretary and holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LL.B) awarded by the Faculty of Law, University of Colombo. She has 20 years of post-qualifying work experience. Mrs.Radeeka has a wealth of experience and knowledge in handling local and foreign clients of reputed Law Firms/Banks/Financial Institutions/Government Institutions. She is an expertise in Real Estate due diligence, legal drafting and writing, interpretations of statutes and laws.

Radeeka currently serves the company as AGM- Head of Legal and leads of the Legal Division of the Company.

Before joining with the Company, she was the Head of Legal of Prime Finance PLC for a period of 3 years.

She has started her career as an Executive in the Ministry of Finance and worked for a period of over 3 years in Legal Division/ SRCC&T fund Division and Minister’s Office. She has handled Legal/Commercial Revenue and Tariff transactions and Litigation matters of the Ministry.

Radeeka thereafter joined with Varners Law Firm and worked as a Senior Associate for a period of over 12 years and acted as a Panel Lawyer to Hatton National Bank on behalf of the Firm.  She has handled Home Loans of Hatton Nation Bank and has liaised with all HNB Branches of Greater Colombo Region on behalf of the Firm.

She has been awarded with Certificates of United Nations Institute for Training & Research (UNITAR) Geneva, Switzerland for the successful completion of courses on Negotiation of Financial Transactions/Legal Aspect of Debt Management/Public Debt Management and Arbitration & Alternate Dispute Resolution.

Mr. H.D. Sameera Chandranath Gunasekara | Assistant General Manager – Finance

A financier by profession Sameera has over 15 years of experience in the microfinance industry. Sameera holds an Executive Diploma in Business and Accounting and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business and Finance.

Mr. Eraj Kanagarathnam | Assistant General Manager/HOD – Product Business Management (Micro Finance)

Eraj joined HNB Finance as a Micro Finance executive and rapidly grew through the ranks due to his performance, dedication & work ethic. Eraj was promoted to Branch Manager, Regional Manager and then as Chief Manager based on his exceptional service rendered towards HNB Finance in the past 18 years. Subsequently he was promoted as Head of the Business Loans department where he leads a team of young professionals towards achieving organizational goals whilst helping thousands of customers grow their businesses as well. Eraj holds a diploma in Micro Finance (IBSL) and a Diploma in English (Wayamba University). An avid cricket fan Eraj is a member of Sri Lanka cricket umpires association and an active Umpire of Sri Lanka Cricket.

Mr.Lakshman Ranasinghe |AGM/HOD – Product Business Management (Gold Loan)

Lakshman is a well-seasoned professional in the Non-banking Financial sector and counts for over 19 years of experience at Edirisinghe Trust Investments as an Assistant General Manager. Lakshman joined HNB Finance in 2018 as head of department and founding member for Gold Loans. Since then he has built the department from scratch & successfully launched the Gold Loan product for HNB Finance using his expertise in the field. Lakshman leads from the front and continues to work tirelessly  with the ambition of giving the best service to customers while growing the HNB Finance Gold Loan portfolio.

Mr. Ushan Hapuarachchi | AGM/HOD – Business Transformation & Digital Implementation

With over 20 years of experience since Joining HNB Finance in 2004, Ushan has amassed a wealth of experience across organization. He has honored his skills in accounting, operations, CRIB compliance, branch network & operations and Business Process Re-engineering upon setting up a department after successful completion of 2-year BPR Project. Ushan currently plays the role of AGM/ HOD – Business Transformation & Digital Implementation department, bringing in many operational efficiencies & cost optimizations while turning around the company towards a digital platform. He also heads the FD Operations department.

He had obtained his MBA from Cardiff Metropolitan University(UK). He is a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Holder(CLSSBB) from Dr. Mikel J Harry Six Sigma Management Institute Asia and is a certified Lean Six Sigma Trainer. He is an Member of the Chartered Institute Of Credit Management UK (MCICM), an associate member of Sri Lanka Institute of Credit Management (SLICM) and holds Membership status (MCPM) provided by The institute of Charted Professional Managers of Sri Lanka(CPM) together with a Diploma in Micro Finance(IBSL),CCMF(IBSL).

Mr. Arusha Dewalage | AGM/HOD – Product Business Management (Micro Leasing)

Mr. Dewalage counts over 17 years of experience in the leasing and finance industry covering marketing operations in some of the leading finance companies in Sri Lanka. Mr. Dewalage commenced his career in the finance industry as an Executive In-charge at Citizens Development Bank. His career milestones include serving as Assistant Manager at CIFL, holding the positions of Branch Manager and Senior Manager-Marketing at Commercial Credit and Finance PLC and becoming the Head of Marketing at Trade Finance on secondment after its acquisition by Commercial Credit and Finance PLC and Head of Business Development at Prime Finance PLC. He also holds a Master of Business Administration in Marketing from the University of Bradfordshire.

Mr. Manjula Kumara Munasinghe | Head of Technology Systems & Services

Mr. Manjula has over 15 years of experience in the microfinance industry. He began his career at HNB FINANCE as an account assistant and gained extensive and invaluable experience in the industry sector in general and in related concepts and accounting practices in specific, through his tenure with the organization.

Mr. Anura Udawaththe | Head of Competency Development, Employee Engagement

With over 14 years of experience in the industry, Anura is competent in HRM and training and development. His exposure to the microfinance industry was through his tenure at HNB FINANCE through which he gained the hands-on experience necessary for the industry sector. Anura holds a Certificate in Human Resource Management, a Diploma in Microfinance and a National Diploma in Training & Human Talent Development.

Mr. Udara Gunasinghe | Chief Manager/HOD – Corporate Marketing Communication

Udara is a well versed professional with over 16 years of marketing experience in Telco & Finance industry. He started his career and worked his way up the corporate ladder in multinational organizations such as Dialog Axiata, Etisalat and local giants in the likes of Central Finance.
After joining the HNB Finance in 2018, Udara played a vital role within a short turnaround period in the corporate rebranding process. Since then he has driven a number of successful offline and online marketing initiatives bringing in numerous accolades for HNB Finance. Udara currently heads the Marketing department of HNB Finance. He also heads the areas of CSR & Sustainability and the Call Center of the company.
Udara is a Chartered Marketer and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing – MCIM(UK). He holds a MBA from Cardiff Met. University (UK), Professional Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) and holds Certified Professional Marketer (CPM) status offered by the Asia Marketing Federation. He is an Associate Member of the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing – (AMSLIM).

Mr. Mr.Sujith Kumara | Chief Manager/HOD – Recoveries

Mr. Sujith Kumara currently works as Head of Micro Finance Recoveries of HNB Finance PLC. He has been working at HNB Finance for 16 years, and has a gained a wealth of experience working in various sections of the Company.

Mr. Sujith Kumara joined HNB Finance as a Field Executive Officer in 2004, and has gradually been promoted to various positions in the company due to his commitment and efficiency. Accordingly, Mr. Sujith Kumara has gained extensive experience in a number of areas by holding the positions of Field Manager, Manager – (Recovery and Legal), Branch Manager, Regional Manager and Chief Manager – Recovery.

In addition to his professional experience, Mr. Sujith Kumara also holds a Diploma in Management and Advanced Diploma in Management from Aquinas Higher Education Centre , and has obtained a Diploma in Micro Finance from IBSL. Mr. Sujith Kumara is currently studying for his MBA from the University of Gloucestershire, UK.

Mr. Suranga Abeywickrama | CM/HOD – Fixed Deposits & Savings-(Branches)

Mr. Suranga Abeywickrama is a well-seasoned finance sector professional with over 18 years of experience. He honed his skills in relationship management while working at Citizens Development Bank for more than five years as an Assistant Manager and a Branch Manager. Mr. Abeywickrama joined HNB Finance PLC in 2014 and held the position of Senior Manager – Liability Sales till 2022. He was promoted to the position of Chief Manager/ Head of Fixed Deposits & Savings department to lead the Fixed Deposits and Savings divisions. He is currently engaged in the development of retail and corporate sales for fund mobilization and customer relationship across the branch network.

Mrs. Rasangi Withana | Chief Manager/HOD – Product Business Management (Corporate Fixed Deposits)

Over a span of 17 years Rasangi has gained extensive knowledge in the Finance Industry, having her main focus on Deposit . She is a hardworking , enthusiastic and dedicated individual with good work etics. Having commenced her career at Asian Finance Rasangi holds a Special Honors Degree in Information (BSc Hon. IT) from the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) and an MBA from the University of Wover Hampton (UK). She has also completed a certificate course in Islamic Banking and Finance from the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka (IBSL).

Mr. Bandara Puwakgolla | Chief Manager/HOD – Head of Credit Administration

Mr. Bandara Puwakgolla is a dedicated professional with over 20 years of extensive experience in the finance industry. Throughout his career, he has held a variety of positions in several top finance companies in the country, specializing in Credit Documentation, Credit Evaluation & Approval and Credit Administration.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) degree from the University of Colombo, where he also completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management. Furthering his education, he earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Western Sydney, Australia. Additionally, he has completed Licentiate I, Licentiate II, and the Professional Part I, Chartered Accountancy Examinations conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka.
